What is The Travel Museum?

The Travel Museum is a boutique museum that will take you on a journey from travel of the past to travel of the present, and together we will explore and expand your mind from what you thought was possible, to show you what is possible!

With interesting and informative artefacts, photos, videos & stories from around the globe we hope to inspire your next travel adventures, whilst raising awareness of the need to protect the fragile and finite ecosystem that is planet earth.

Starting with a brief potted look at travel from the 1960’s to date, told through stories, photos & artefacts of the day we will move into the Adventure Travel zone where sports meet high adventure in a collision of crazy adventures.

We will take a look at the more serious side of expeditions and modern contemporary explorers, TV personalities and outdoorsmen and women who inspire us all, with a generous nod to explorers of the past who made it all possible.

Stepping through our museum travel rooms you will find each one has a theme and is stuffed with artefacts and souvenirs from every continent. Next we take a peak at the natural world - a glimpse into the amazing bio diverse planet of ours, before looking at the man made world and finally into our little room of treasures - interesting and unique artefacts, and real treasure from cultures around the globe.

We wrap it all up with the “boast” - our homage to travel statistics and finally we introduce you to the TTM - Travel Club - which helps fund out little museum, oh and did we mention our little shop? “Got to have a little shop.”

How to use the Virtual Museum

You can go any way around the museum you want - it’s your choice, you can dip in and out or go straight to whatever interests you most, but we intended for it to be a journey - a story told by travellers and adventurers who’ve been there - done that - & got the T-shirt. It is here to help inspire, delight and amuse you - with whimsical anecdotes and a smile.

If you start at the begin (That’s the top left button) it will take you through the museum in the order we intended, building the story as it goes. You can use the click through buttons to each section and if you get lost or want a change you can always return home via the top right of screen home button.

You can make videos and pictures bigger through “gestures” or clicking on them. Don’t forget to scroll down.

If you want to know more about the serious side of the museum works then you will find links in the “Header” section above, including how you can get involved, help us or sponsor an artefact as a unique gift for a loved one.

Finally there is the ubiquitous “Little Shop” and the TTM - Travel Club which you might like to join, all the proceeds from the Club and Shop go towards funding the Museum, and a future collection of stories, artefacts and adventures.

It is intended to be view on a computer, but it is smart phone enabled.

Why are you just a Virtual Museum?

Quite simply we haven’t got a home. If you can give us one, or you know someone who might be able to, then we would love to chat. We are a private self-funded museum but we are looking to “donate” the museum as a community interest project when we have had our fun with it. So if you think this might be of interest to your community then get in touch - we would love to hear from you.
