The Travel Museum - News update
Like all walks of life - tide and time wait for no one. No sooner have we added a section then the others look a bit tired. Still this is the process of development and continual improvement - that we strive for.
Some of the items are hard to photograph - particularly behind glass, so I hope you bear with until we either remove items from the frames - or get a better photo technique!
We also hope in the near future to have some sections by materials, for example, fabric, wood, metal etc. This will be just a bit of fun to group artefacts that are other wise normally in their own sections.
Additional “Adventures” of interest will be added soon, and we may expand these to include a bit of country information, such as population, location etc. Recent trips to Peru, Gambia and Senegal, UAE, Svalbard, Norway and the Inner and Outer Hebrides should add some diverse flavour, and in addition we will be adding more historical adventures and expeditions.
As part of our museum is social ethnographical in nature we will also be adding some “Tribes” sections, focusing on observations and interaction with tribal groups and the countries which they call home. The stories told and the conclusions we have come to, are frequently very different to those told in history books and popular television programmes.
Tribal tales will focus on the Celts of Britain (specifically England, as these seem to have been largely forgotten, yet the DNA and people still exist in large numbers, assimilated into a wider cultures), Mayan, Aztec, Mixtec, Olmec, and Pacal, Nasca, and Inca cultures, as well as aboriginal, Inuit and other First Nation People.
