The Travel Museum - News!

The Travel Museum Collection is being curated and documented with a description and tag for each item along with country location and origin where known. The place of purchase / collection may not be the same as the place of origin - items travel!

We are working on a systematic numbering system so that items can be easily located and referenced for education purposes. The ages or era’s of items, for example the “Edo” Period - for Japanese artefacts is an approximate dating range - we may if we have the information narrow this down to late or early period, for example “late Edo period.” Where we do this will be added in.

Some items where we do not have specific dates will be more generic such as “Pre- Columbian” or Twentieth Century.

All items, dates and information are presented in “good faith” but if you are a specialist in the subject and you know different then we would be delighted to know “your opinion.”

We hope over the next decade to have a full documented and photographed list of all artefacts in the museum collection, but as you can appreciate this takes time. It will be easier when we have a permanent home for the collection and we can get items out of storage.
